Audience response system >> TV programs

Increasing numbers of television programs are developing interactivity with live audiences, either to correspond with the concept of the program (game shows, panel quizzes, talent shows, etc), or to get closer to the audience and television viewers.

Some of the interactive programs, past and present, include Opportunity Knocks, Stars in their Eyes, Big Brother.

The voting systems mainly employed are the same as those used for general assemblies. They permit polling of large numbers of participants, but do not allow for continuous voting; each device transmits the response received for a specific question, within a given time interval.

No system other than Medianalyst enables real-time votes from TV audiences to be obtained, or votes from viewers in real-time conditions.

The Medianalyst advantage
  • The live audience on set, or internet users participating from their home, can be interrogated continuously as the TV program progresses, and their impressions can be monitored in real time from the production department, then presented as graphs or scales using the graphics corresponding to the program’s visual identity. The instant result of the vote can be displayed to the audience and/or guests, or it can be concealed.

Applications of continuous voting
  • Variety/light entertainment shows, enabling the audience to rate the performance of singers and artistes.
  • Game or entertainment shows, allowing the audience to appraise and rank audiovisual excerpts (clips, films, series, reports, etc).
  • Debates or social affairs programs, in which audience feedback can help guide the direction of debate taken by the host or interviewer.
